Americans Are Fat - Uhh…..No Kidding Recent reports from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other agencies, confirm what most of us know from just going through the day. Americans are fat and getting fatter. Further studies have brought us to the conclusions that we’re not only fatter, we’re sicker as a result of being fatter. (Do we really need expensive studies to teach us this truth?) Some states are fatter than others, but no state in the USA is fit. Scary! “As a society, we can no longer afford to make poor health choices such as being physically inactive and eating an unhealthy diet; these choices have led to a tremendous obesity epidemic. As policy makers and health professionals, we must embrace small steps toward coordinated policy and environmental changes that will help make Americans live longer, better, healthier lives.” U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Richard H Carmona, MD, MPH, FACS We salute you sir, and we thank you.
At The Wholefood Farmacy, we have developed a lifestyle that embraces many of the recommendations of the USDA, AMA, CDC, and others, and made it convenient for you to participate in helping yourself, your family, your friends, and your nation to become more physically fit, more mentally awake, and happier as a result. Our principles of life that include walking, drinking plenty of water, eating fresh whole foods, and developing positive relationships are producing results on a daily basis for an ever growing number of folks that want to be healthier and happier. Let’s hear what a few of them have to say. “Hi, my name is David Rousett. After trying several of the Wholefood Farmacy products, brought to us by our Farmacist friend Lou Paolo, over the months of June and early July, my wife Anna and I joined WFF and embarked on our first Liquithon. Here’s a little background. We own and operate a nutritional supplement store here in Oregon City (a suburb of Portland , Oregon ) and we have been doing so for the last 13 years. I am a biochemist and have worked in the pharmaceutical and medical diagnostics industry up until we started the store in 1992. So, suffice it to say, we're big believers in the scientific method. However, as a believer, it only made sense that if eating too much food, and eating the wrong foods, had led to my diabetes and our overweight condition, then eating the right foods in the right amounts should reverse these conditions. To keep the "experiment" pure, we decided to stop taking supplements during our 14 days of the Liquithon. We chose The Liquithon as our first event because we were trying to retrain our eating habits and felt that the measured amounts of the Farinas, every two hours, would easily handle our portion control issues. From the first day we found that we were never hungry as long as we had our Farinas every 2-3 hours (we shot for 2, but slipped up every once in a while). We felt great and started to lose weight within the first few days. On July 9 th , my blood sugar reading of 365 was part of a total blood workup that included a lipid profile with total cholesterol (173), HDL (40), LDL (87) and triglycerides or fats (230). I also had my liver enzymes measured which were all normal with the exception of GGT (130) [with a normal range of 4-32] . GGT is a liver measurement that shows either high alcohol usage or the presence of large amounts of yeast or fungus in the body that can turn a diabetic's body into a "still" where the alcohol is brewed within the bloodstream itself. All other values were normal or good so all was not lost, by any means, but I was sick and tired of having blood sugars in the 300-400 range (normal levels are 70-115 mg/dl). These blood sugar values had been at these levels for 7 years with high A1C values as well (A1C, or Glycosylated Hemoglobin, is a measure of "caramelization" in the body, roughly a 3 month average of blood sugar levels) . We started on July 20th. By July 24th, my blood sugar was down to 131 and my weight was down over 9 pounds! We followed the Liquithon instructions exactly as provided, starting with ElectriPh i. We added some fresh fruit like a half a nectarine, fresh blueberries or strawberries. Sometimes we even put in some partially ground flax meal or a few raw nuts, particularly walnuts. My only problem came when I added flash pasteurized juice to my drink. (Editor’s note: Liquithon instructions do not advocate store bought juices) This caused my blood sugar to shoot back up about 50 points. For those of you that don't know, it's a federal law that juices must be pasteurized to be sold, so unless you made the juice in your own juicer, it has been pasteurized and the natural enzymes present in the fruit or vegetable have been denatured. On the way to being denatured, their activity has been speeded up, breaking down all the starches into simple sugars that hit your system hard. So stick with the instructions and stick with fresh fruit or better yet consume the Farinas with water since they really taste good. By the end of the 14 days, I had lost 14 pounds (over 1 month later 12 have stayed off) and my blood sugar had dropped to 112 which is the first normal blood sugar reading I've had in over 7 years of measurements! Anna lost 10 pounds (over 1 month later she's actually lost 2 more for a total of 12). We both have way more energy and think more clearly. Anna found the time she saved in meal preparation and cleanup to be an exciting side benefit. We love the fact that the foods are raw with their enzymes and nutrients intact. We also love the taste of so many of the snack foods that we tested. Evidently our customers agree since they keep buying the foods that Anna and I set aside for a follow-up Tri Decathlon Plus. We are now working on a hybrid event that utilizes both the Liquithon products and other Wholefood Farmacy foods during the same event. We'll keep you all posted on our progress because there is more weight to lose. Anna and I literally thank God for The Whole food Farmacy and Lou Paolo for introducing us to these wonderful foods!” Dave & Anna Rousett, Oregon City , OR . READ ON! “Hello, my name is Steve Anderson. About 1½ years ago I decided that it was time to do something meaningful about my general state of health. I weighed 253 lbs, had other health challenges and concerns, generally didn’t feel well, and certainly didn’t look the way I wanted to. I was using The Wholefood Farmacy products on a snack basis and really liked them. Also, I firmly believed in The Wholefood Farmacy’s philosophy that we need to: 1) feed / nourish the body with what it wants, needs, recognizes, and knows how to utilize - and - 2) assist the body to cleanse / detoxify. WFF advocates that the best, and most realistic way, to do both of these things is with nutrient-dense raw whole foods and water. So, I started on my journey of getting my body back into balance (homeostasis). I knew I would experience the wonderful ‘side effect’ of losing the weight that I needed and wanted to lose, while getting myself back to ’original manufacturer’s specifications’. It’s just phenomenal the way our bodies were created and function. Initially, I started on a Tri-Decathlon 13 day nutritional event. I was amazed at the way I felt in a very short time. Various health challenges and concerns started to improve and I began feeling better. Some of these challenges were old injuries that I had sustained as long as 35 years ago. Also, I was losing weight after the first few days. But most importantly was the improvement in the overall way I felt and my new found clearness of thought. Then I started listening to my body, probably for the first time ever, and letting it tell me which of the Wholefood Farmacy products I liked, and which were doing positive things for my health. I incorporated these products into my normal eating regimen and was able to maintain my weight loss and improved overall health without much effort. After a while I decided it was time for me to try the Wholefood Farmacy’s Liquithon with all 7 Farinas. The Liquithon was fun and much easier to do than I thought it would be. I typically lost 1½ pounds per day on the Liquithon, plus my other health challenges and concerns just seemed to be fading away. Now, at my most recent ’weigh-in’ I am down to 189 pounds. As I’ve been losing the 64 pounds, I have been able to maintain and stabilize my weight where ever it was at any particular time. Then when I wanted to ‘take it on down’ I would get back on a Liquithon and the weight would keep coming off. The Tri-Decathlons and the Liquithon are wonderful ’nutritional events’ and I will keep doing them in their regular or a modified form forever. Many thanks to WFF, and to my sponsor, Bruce Smith, for introducing me to these wonderful foods.” Steve Anderson, Aberdeen , SD. Thanks Dave, Anna, and Steve.
