ASK DR JOHN Q: My friend periodically hires a personal trainer, should I do that too? A: Before you hire a personal trainer, there are some things to consider. First, do you need periodic (or daily) motivation to engage in your workout program? If so, then a personal trainer can help. Most are equipped with techniques that will inspire your workouts, and they can teach you tools to stay motivated on the days you don't see them. Even if they are not particularly inspirational individuals, their presence can help boost the intensity of your workouts. Also, can you afford one? While they can be very helpful, they can also be costly. Most charge between $40 - $80 per session. However, while money is a factor for most of us, the money is usually well spent since not being healthy can be so much more expensive. Lastly, people often wonder about a personal trainer's credentials. In other words, what should you look for in a personal trainer? Three things should be considered: Editor’s Note: Part of the philosophy of the WFF embraces exercise on a daily basis. We know that some of you are moving into more and more sophisticated and higher level exercise programs. We do encourage you to go at a pace that will ensure a great experience, and not cause yourself too much pain or any other problems. If you overdo it, be sure that your have some Posh Spaah on hand. Nothing helps to relieve those aching muscles quite like a good hot soak in our aromatic salt bath, Posh Spaah. UPDATES Soon to be released is the updated version of the DVD entitled The Whole Truth.
