Fresh Centrifuge Process

Fresh-Centrifuge Process is the emerging process benchmark for organic VCO extraction from fresh coconut meat that prevents contamination, alteration and deterioration of the oil, and retaining its freshness. The VCO produced is practically the same as it exists in fresh coconut meat -  fresh smell and taste, no fermentation acid contamination, no peroxide contamination, no aflatoxin, no diminution of the heat-sensitive vitamin E, un-altered fatty acid profile, and high laurin content.

It is a wholistic process that starts at coconut growing where organic and natural farm productivity improvement methods are implemented, and age of coconut fruits are monitored to get the optimum age for harvest (Note: underage and overage nuts contain lesser laurin oil). It employs an innovative process of extracting the oil at fresh conditions using purely physical method of centrifugation or high-speed spinning, thru a specifically-fitted high-speed low-turbulence centrifuge, without use of heating, fermentation and freezing methods of extractions. The final oil is packed in bottles and containers that undergo 100% preventive sanitation and disinfection, and sealed with slight vacuum to maintain freshness throughout shelf life.

 
Coconut Growing
Orientation, info-dissemination and monitoring of implementation of organic and farm productivity improvement practices by accredited coconut farmer-suppliers. Scheduling of harvest based on age of nuts and crop yield.
Coconut Harvesting
3F Fast-Farm-to-Factory Coconut Harvesting – nuts are harvested not earlier than 24 hours before processing, in partnership with accredited coconut farmers. Harvest is done monthly per farm to maintain correct and uniform maturity of nuts per harvest and production.
High Pressure Spray Wash
At the factory, each small batch of delivered nuts is spray- washed to prevent organic and mud contaminants from reaching the processing area.
Inspection and Testing
100% inspection of nuts at receiving, any non-conforming nuts are segregated. Systematic sample is taken from each delivery for quality assessment, and as objective basis for fair payment and performance recognition to coconut farmers.
Holding Bins
Clean nuts are kept segregated in holding bins to facilitate batch scheduling and traceability.
De-husking
Nuts roll by gravity into the manual de-husking area. De-husked nuts roll by gravity into the splitting area, and segregated in batches for control of production flow. 100% inspection is done on de-husked nuts.
Splitting
Splitting of nuts per production batch. 100% preventive inspection is done on split nuts to isolate those with sprouts.
Coco Meat Extraction
Coco meat is extracted from the shell using fine-tooth stainless graters, for better control of non-inclusion of ground coco-shells into the grated meat.
Coco Milk Extraction
Coconut milk is extracted from the coconut meat through a series of screw and press expelling. Tight control of cycle time to maintain freshness of coco milk.
Macro Filtration
Removal of coarse particles from coco milk that can hamper centrifuge operation.
Fresh Centrifugation
Fresh coco milk is manually-fed to high-speed low-turbulence centrifuge (manual feeding is done to prevent contamination from pump transport mechanisms). The feed is warmed to 45C as necessary to increase flowability and facilitate oil seperation under fresh conditions.
Stage 1 Micro Filtration
Removal of micro-solids from oil extraction optimization.
Vacuum Drying
High Vacuum drying to remove surface-adsorbed water (to maintain freshness over 2 years shelf life) without heating beyond 45C. Thermally-stirred for uniform temperature (no mechanical stirring to avoid contamination). Batch testing for confirmation of freshness quality.
Stage 2 Micro Filtration
Final removal of micro-solids.
Boiling and Packing
Bottles are thoroughly disinfected and completely dried. Filled bottles are sealed air-tight to maintain freshness, maintaining slight vacuum condition of the seal. Each bottle is lot-numbered for traceability. Lot acceptance testing of product quality.
